Man Named Angaline

Cat. #0105 (MFH #418) - As sung by Mrs. Ethel Hunter, Springfield, Missouri on May 28, 1958

VERSE 1
There was a man, named Angaline
Who hung two red shirts on th line
And bought a goat, so rich and fine
An' tied it hard to his back yard

VERSE 2
That goat got loose about half-past-nine
An' ate those rad shirts on th line
And Angaline got mad and said,
He wished to God, that goat was dead

VERSE 3
He took it to th railroad track
And tied it there right flat of its back
And from th east there came an express
I'll leave you now, to guess th rest

VERSE 4
Sing any old song, but not goodbye
For this ole goat was'nt ready to die
It had a scheme worked in its brain
Coughed up those shirts and flagged th train
