Cat. #1566 (MFH #804) - As sung by J.J. "Red" Curry, Fayetteville, Arkansas on August 18, 1975

VERSE 1
That Eastbound Train were crowded
One cold December day
Conductor shouted tickets
In an' ole time fashion way

VERSE 2
There were a little girl, in saddness
Her hair was brightly gold
An' then she had no ticket
An' then her story told

VERSE 3
My Father, he's in prison
In prison, almost dead
My poor ole half blind Mother
She's tryin' to earn her bread

VERSE 4
O, God, bless you little one
Th Conductor, he bawled
You'll never need a ticket
As long as I'm on this car

VERSE 5
Each time the ole Conducter
-- --- --- ---- -- ---
This words would ring in his ears
Please, Mr. Conductor
Don't put me off of your train
For th best friends I have in this world, kind Sir
Is waiting for me, in pain
---- --- -- --- --- --
Perhaps he'll live thru th day
An' that is th reason I'm anxious to ride
But I haven't th money to pay
