Cat. #1377 (MFH #941) - As sung by Reba Dearmore, Gaithersburg, Maryland on December 31, 1971
VERSE 1
O Father, dear Father a young child said
As she crept one night to his lonely bed
O Father, dear Father, come go to th room with me
Three beautiful angels you shall see
VERSE 2
As I lay there with half closed eyes
I heard a gentle voice from th Heavenly skies
As I lay there wondering what it could be
Mother Mary and Willie came gliding to me
VERSE 3
They hovered around my lonely bed
Each one laid a hand on my aching head
And th tears that they shed, they fell like pearls
An' they --- away with my own loose curls
VERSE 4
A dream, a dream, my helpless child
And your aching head caused your friends to arise
A dream, a dream it cannot be
For dreams do not come an' talk with me
VERSE 5
And I know that they talked for sister Mary said,
Her spirit was blessed tho' her body was dead
I know what love can wither bright world
And then return to its Heavenly home
VERSE 6
I saw little Willie a standin' there
With his deep blue eyes an' his curly hair
And th tears that he shed, I could almost see
As he said, little Sister come go home with me
VERSE 7
Our kind Mother, I would then
As she said, let us stay and accompany him
In a few more months, then a signal will be given
And we'll have them with us, Willie, in Heaven
