Cat. #1595 (MFH #569) - As sung by Mr. J. W. Breazeal, Springfield, Missouri on April 27, 1958
VERSE 1
Shepherds rejoice, lift up your eyes
And send your fears away
News from th regions of th skies
A Saviours borned today
Jesus, th God, whom angels fear
Come down to dwell with you
Today he makes his entrance here
But not as monarchs do
VERSE 2
No golden purple swalding bands
Nor royal shining things
A manger for his cradle stands
And holds a King of kings
Go shepherds where th infant lies
And see his humble throne
Th tears of joy in all your eyes
Go shepherds kiss th sun
VERSE 3
Thus Gabriel sang and straight abound
Th heavenly armies throng
They tune their harps to softly sound
And thus conclude their song
Glory to God, whose fears above
Let peace surround the earth
Mortals that know their makers love
Their redeemers birth
