Draw nigh young men an' listen please
Let me tell you what happened to me
For seven days our babe was gone
In th woods all alone

We sent for men, far an' near
But nothin' of th child we heer'd
Until th seventh day rolled on
They found where it had went along

Someone found some of its clothes
That it had lost, we all supposed

That our infant babe was dead
